About Subha Shaam

A poetry book as a meeting ground; where Kshemendra’s 11th-century Sanskrit verse stands alongside the words of Mumbai’s Sandeep Yadav in 2025.

From Naomi Shihab Nye to Mritunjay, it gathers voices across centuries, languages, and borders, uniting them in a single breath. Paired with my travel photographs, it is less a book, more a quiet conversation; one that lingers through afternoons,
and into mornings and evenings over coffee.

Majrooh Sultanpuri’s verse evokes a liminal space,
where dawn feels like dusk and the boundaries between moments dissolve:
“As if the morning feels like an evening.”

This line captures the pulse of this work a sense of transition and ambiguity,

where something that should feel fresh and new carries the weight of closure.

It symbolizes the quiet poetry of life’s in-betweens,

where beginnings blur into endings, hope intertwines with doubt,

and light holds the shadow of darkness.

Through photographs captured during travels,

I explore light as both subject and metaphor,

portraying spaces and times that exist on the edge,

neither fully one thing nor the other.
